Your public utility bills such as gas, water, electricity and non-international telephone can be paid automatically from your post office or bank account. When you apply for the automatic payment service, you will need your bankbook and your personal inkan seal, if that’s what you used when you opened your account – otherwise your signature will be acceptable. You must bring these to the bank or post office where you opened your account and fill out an application form. It may be helpful to bring along any bills you have received, as these will have your customer number on them, however this is not essential.
